Neighborhood Hero: March 2011

I think Patty is terrific. When she and her students come to our senior center, they really lighten things up. All those young minds and such different ways to think about things. You can learn at any age. I think that everyone has a responsibility to help the poor and the destitute. It’s in the constitution, isn’t it? We can feel sorry for ourselves, but why not help others?

I have seen things that I never saw before. Cutting up old T-shirts and weaving them into knapsacks for Haitian children? That’s a great thing to do with your old stuff!

I have a lot of expertise to share. For example, I teach “smiling.” Sometimes when I am in the park, NEIGHBORGAPBRIDGE students wave hello to me. It’s great. Life is too short to be mad.

We are all humans, aren’t we?
